Are my shoes causing IT pain?

Greetings All!

As luck would have it, I started trail running a few months ago and I have IT Band pain. I understand that the pain might be the result of me running too far, too fast, but I was also thinking that maybe my shoes are old. I have Asics that I paid $150 for and they have approximately 150 miles on them. I know the mileage is not that high, but they are over two years old. What do your think? Could shoes be the issue?

I did just that. I went to my local running store and got new Brooks shoes. A month later, ZERO pain, and I am running further :)
