Running shoes

I am doing the North Face challenge in MAY doing the 50K. I currently wear the New Balance 993 whcih is not a trail shoe. Should I switch to a trail shoe or just wear what works for me. By the way this is my first ultra

Whatever works for you is my opinion. I personally enjoy minimalist shoes though when i run ultras.
