DETAILED COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The course will begin at The Montage in Deer Valley at an elevation of 8465 feet. The course climbs up a paved road approximately 1/3 of a mile to the Mid Mountain Trail. This is the only section of the race that is not on trail. Runners will climb slightly at the beginning up to the trail reaching the highest elevation of the race at 8711 feet. From there, the race runs along the Mid Mountain Trail. This is a beautiful trail that winds through the Deer Valley and Park City Mountain Ski Resorts for the next 8.5 miles. Views are amazing! The elevation change is minimal (less than 100 feet net gain/loss for each mile). The trail is well-marked, plenty wide, shaded in many sections, and downright awesome for running! This section has some rolling hills, going slightly downhill until reaching the top of Armstrong Trail at an elevation of 8104 feet. Runners then turn down Armstrong trail for the best four miles of the race. Winding through Aspen trees and pines, runners drop approximately 1100 feet in the final four miles until reaching the finish at Silver Star Lift, elevation 6902 feet.
