The Smoke Rise Trail Runs take place on the rolling trails of Burr Oak State Park. The trails feature a mix of hiking and bridle trails and includes several creek crossings. The Smoke Rise begins at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, September 16 during a beautiful Ohio sunrise, continues through out the day, and finishes at 3:00 p.m. There is an 8-hour cut-off for the marathon and 7-hour cut-off for the half marathon.

The Smoke Rise Trail Runs take place on the rolling trails of Burr Oak State Park. The trails feature a mix of hiking and bridle trails and includes several creek crossings. The Smoke Rise begins at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, September 16 during a beautiful Ohio sunrise, continues through out the day, and finishes at 3:00 p.m. There is an 8-hour cut-off for the marathon and 7-hour cut-off for the half marathon.
The course is primarily trail with a small portion (less than 10%) that is paved surface. The marathon course is a full loop that starts/finishes at the Burr Oak Lodge. The half marathon is a point-to-point starting at the halfway point of the marathon at Dock 4 Marina and finishes at the Burr Oak Lodge (see transportation below). The 5 mile course is ideal for short course trail runners, ruckers and hikers and starts and finishes at the Lodge.
