A Mountain Ultra Marathon

The worlds first & only Self-Sufficient Multi-Stage Mountain Ultra

The Ultimate Mountain Ultra, a 220km multi-stage event over the infamous Rocky Mountains, Colorado, USA. Your race starts in the picturesque town of Crested Butte with it's old west style buildings and mountain vistas.

The race then takes a wild and rugged tour of some of the wildest and most remote regions in Colorado all the way through Aspen and finishing in Snowmass. With the whole race taking place at over 9000ft and rising to 13000ft several times this could well be the toughest race in the Ultimate Ultras Series, we won't label this it as the toughest in the world, it's not our place, we'll leave that to you. You will be self-sufficient carrying your own provisions such as food, water, clothing and sleeping arrangements for the entire race, replenishing your 2.5 litres of water along the way at check points and base camps.

To complete this ultra successfully you will have to set up and complete your training to include substantial inclines and declines as well as some altitude exposure. See race itinerary for a day by day account of this amazing event.
