Looking for something a little different?

The Moose Ultra (Marathon of Ontario Summer Edition) is the longest six-day footrace in the world, it is also one of the toughest with terrain to rival the jungle and temperatures to rival the desert.. The six-day, 300km course follows the Bruce Trail on the Bruce Peninsular from Tobermory to Blue Mountain Resort near Collingwood.

Competitors can compete in either of two categories. The traditional 'solo' category is for competitors wishing to complete the whole course as an individual. For 2009 there will also be a 'team' category, for teams of two runners. The team will complete the course as a relay for four of the stages and together for two of the stages.

The event will start with a registration day on Saturday 15th August 2009; however competitors will meet prior to that at a Toronto Hotel the night before. Competitors will then be transported to Tobermory on the Saturday morning. The race will start at Cyprus lake on Sunday 16th August 2009.

Competitors will spend the next six days running through some of the most amazing scenery and toughest terrain Canada has to offer. With stages between 21 and 69 kilometers, race organizers and crew will be there every step of the way. This will be the ultimate running adventure for anyone.

For safety reasons runners must carry mandatory equipment items as well as a certain amount of food for the duration of the event. At the end of every stage competitors arrive at a purpose built race village, which will provide accommodation, unlimited water and supplementary meals to help with recovery.

After the final shorter stage on Friday 21st August 2009 everyone gets the chance to relax at Blue Mountain Resort, the unique finish of the Marathon of Ontario Summer Edition. In the evening there will be a celebratory reception, followed by the Gala Dinner and Awards ceremony.

Saturday morning is free time before a shuttle leaves in the afternoon to take people back to the Toronto hotel for goodbyes.
