Friday night, the McCullough Hills Trail will be featured in Sloan Canyon. The surroundings vary from lowland dry lake beds to volcanic rock peaks reaching more than 5,000 feet. The trail climbs gradually through rolling hills that are sparsely covered with creosote bush and white bursage. This is the least technical trail of the three in the series.
Saturday morning we will run Bootleg Canyon which is located north of Boulder City, just outside of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. This canyon features world-renowned bike trails and zip-lining. The race will bring runners up switchbacks that will offer breathtaking views of Lake Mead. The longer run will also offer views of the Las Vegas Strip. This is the most technical trail of the three in the series.
And lastly on Saturday night, Red Rock Canyon, exhibiting some of the best examples of the Mojave Desert. The spectacular views consist of sandstone cliffs up against the Spring Mountains, narrow canyons, creeks, and waterfalls. The scenery changes and become more beautiful with each step.
